I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. I lead a group of therapists in a private practice in Buffalo Grove, Illinois called Relationship Works. Discover more about that group at relationshipworks.life. I am also a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist & Supervisor – learn more about what that is and why it matters here. https://gretchenharro.com/eft/
With couples, we work together to identify the pattern underneath the “here-we-go-again” arguments. We discover what leads to feeling disconnected and identify where each person can make positive changes. I teach clients how to have productive conversations that lead to deeper understanding and acceptance of each other. Clear solutions to the issues they face arise as a result of this understanding and acceptance.
In premarital counseling, I help couples identify strengths and address challenges in their relationship so they’re more prepared for life together.
Parents develop a positive discipline that builds respect and cooperation between all family members.
Women of all ages receive wise, objective counsel and support for the challenges they face.
I also teach mindfulness practices to clients who want to keep their attention in the present and worry less about the past and future.
My Christian faith informs my work and I integrate clients’ personal spiritual beliefs into therapy. I don’t push my beliefs on others, and clients have expressed their appreciation of my non-judgmental approach.
I enjoy bringing my practical approach to relationships to groups and regularly give workshops. Topics include:
